Introduction to Clay with Zach

This beginner friendly 8-week class will offer students the opportunity to learn hand-building techniques as well as learning how to work on the electric wheel. Students will learn the basics of both practices, including wedging, the pinch, coil, and slab methods, throwing, trimming, and glazing. The instructor will work with more experienced students on more advanced forms. All tools and supplies are included. Students must be 14 years or older and any student 16 must be supervised by a parent or guardian who is also enrolled in the course. Class will be held 12 - 2:15 p.m., Fridays, at the YMCA pottery studio at 1000 N. Main St., Blacksburg. Class begins on September 3 and ends on October 29. There will be no class on October 22. $300
